Frozen bank account

Has anyone out there had their bank account frozen by their joint account holder? ( not married)
And been able to remedy this without going to court?

This frozen account happened to me nearly a year ago and all negotiations have resulted in an impasse. It was a large sum of money, 50% of which I believe is rightfully mine. The reason given to the bank for the account freezing was false and the bank say they can do nothing to help.
Because I don’t have access to this account I doubt I will be able to finance action by a solicitor or taking out a court order independently so I am really stuck. I am concerned that this is going to take a really long time also.
Some would class this as a dispute but I think it is also financial abuse.
Any suggestions welcomed

Hi @XYZ123_2 ... sorry to read this.
Just a quick question ... Is the other party also frozen out or do they have full access ?
I think this could be a legal matter, as well as personal, but I think your bank has some explaining to do (they might have valid reasons) for taking actions without your joint consent. Did they write to you ?0 -
So have you & your partner split up? Which is the usual case in Joint Account disputes.Life in the slow lane0

It's normal for joint account Ts & Cs to allow one party to freeze the account in the event of a dispute between the account holders, which prevents access for either of them until the matter is resolved - this is specifically to address situations where there isn't 'joint consent' so is likely to be working exactly as intended.dealyboy said:Hi @XYZ123_2 ... sorry to read this.

OP - which bank and account is this, and what do the relevant Ts & Cs say about this scenario?2
