Good HMRC number for student loans

Does anyone know a decent HMRC contact number for a student loan query? I've tried a couple off the HMRC website but have given up after half an hour plus on hold.
I paid off my student loan on 31st March, but my employer still hasn't received a stop notice. SLC claim they sent instructions to HMRC on the Wednesday following my repayment (10th April) but I still had it deducted from my April pay packet and they way things stand, will have yet another deduction taken in May. SLC, who I can get through to, say it's on HMRC, who I can't get through to.
