Ordered from co.uk but company want items returned to USA!

Hi
My wife ordered clothes from meetcurve.co.uk which arrived but she wants to return them as they don't fit. There is no mention in the returns policy that the items have to be sent back to the USA, just that items have to be returned at buyers expense. We are left with having to return the items (£80 ish) but having to pay £18 postage to the USA, the company won't budge. It seems rather unfair that the company is pretending to be a UK company and there is no mention of USA returns, is there anything we could do in terms of getting more money back? We are happy to pay the equivalent of a UK postage rate for return but feel cheated by the company. Many thanks for what ever help you can give.

Anybody can buy and use a .co.uk website and its not an indication that its a uk based company. The company are allowed to ask you to pay for the return even if its to the usa0

I've just looked at the .co.uk website and as the OP says there is nothing to suggest they aren't a UK based company - until you look very closely. The contact e-mail is .....@meetcurve.com and US spelling is used in some of the words. Trustpilot gives a very poor rating, often due to the returns problems as outlined by the OP.Sadly, nothing can be taken at face value any more and it seems to be necessary to do forensic level investigation of a company before placing an order. The question for the OP to answer is do they want to spend another £18 in the hope of getting a net return of £62? Some comments on Trustpilot indicate that partial refunds have been offered, and that may be a better route to go. Then try and sell the item on.2

Ignore the web address and before buying anything online look into the contact us and terms and conditions for actual company details.
Their website has no company info whatsoever so is best avoided.3 -
If you're buying online from a company you haven't used before always check the contact us details for a physical address. No UK physical address, avoid.1

Sadly they are not pretending to be a UK company. As there is no address at all on their site.
Pricing of products sold by meetcurve.co.uk is based upon figures calculated in U.S. Dollars (US$)
Big hint not Uk..

Express shipping 3 to 7 days no matter where in the world.
I would guess this is just a drop shipper.

OP, where did the products get sent out from? The US?1 -
Always worth looing up who owns the domain name and their address. In this case the address is 4600 East Washington Street, Suite 305, Phoenix, AZ, 85034, USA0

I think I also saw the company's registered address as somewhere in China.0

another red herring together with those listed above is they state the applicable law is the law of the UK. There is no such thing and you will often see overseas companies make this error.
Many overseas companies will purchase domain names for different countries...never assume a '.co.uk' address means it is a UK company...they have registered meetcurve.de for Germany, meetcurve.fr for France, meetcurve.com.au for Australia etc etc0
