What's the going rate for an IPhone 12 or 13 mini, in decent condition?  My SE cost me £89 but is getting long in the tooth and i need to think what to get if the battery starts to go, or if it no longer gets updates.

I had it in my head that the "minis" are mega bucks, nothing like the SE that was less than £300 even brand new.

    SE was launched March 2016.
I bought my 1st SE new in June 2016 64gb, cost £439 from John Lewis (same price as Apple but with 2 year guaranty)
Bought my 2nd SE 2020 in Dec 2020, 64gb cost £399 (same deal as above). Had the buy in a hurry as battery on old one deteriorated very rapidly over a week or so then finally died on day we exchanged contracts to sell our house a few days before Christmas😳

Don’t know where you got your ‘£300 even brand new’ price from.
The minis are much more expensive, both new & refurbished. Some of the refurbished costing more than a new SE have battery health lower than mine! (88%).
    It’s a minefield.

Look on Amazon right now. iPhone 12 mini 64gb white for 281.99. A much better option than a new SE.

I didn’t see that particular phone but I know I can get refurbished phones much cheaper than new.
However, as above, when I’ve looked at detailed description (assuming one is available) the Battery Health they guarantee, is lower than my current SE2020.
So I don’t see the point!

Yeah that's a problem with the Minis, they are a good fit for us with small hands, but the battery capacity is smaller than other phones.
I've been quite happy with my 12, and the battery does last all day for my usage - though I did buy it new direct from Apple, so not very MSE...
  • It does come down a little bit to luck. The one I bought had 100% battery health.
A new battery from Apple is £49 if worse comes to worse.

    UPDATE
    Thanks for all the comments.
Haven’t been too well so couldn't get to a repairer & very  glad I didn’t rush to replace my phone. After a couple of weeks, all the display issues seem to have gone, so 🤞🏻it was just a temporary fault. Battery health still shows 88%, which is fine for me.

replace would have been my suggestion. the first SE is so small. you'll very quickly get used to a bigger phone ;)
