Arriva Bus Hit my car
Hi there,
I need your help
My car was hit by the Arriva Bus and we exchanged the details it was nighttime and the bus was empty. I could not manage to have any witnesses. The bus driver was so nervous and unable to comment on it BUT exchange our details.
I have instructed the solicitors to contact the Arriva bus, but they have heard nothing from them.
My vehicle is severely damaged on the left side. ITS A MERCEDEZ BENZ
I am concerning who will provide me with a replacement or courtesy car?
Is it a good idea to have a solicitor or Insurance company process the claim?
I have no idea about the process and procedure if any one can assist me

Simples - ring your insurance company, tell them you've had an accident and give them the relevant details then let them get on with it.Saima796 said:Hi there,

Not sure why you've contacted solicitors nor why 'ITS A MERCEDES BENZ' is relevant5 -
Contact your insurance company with the details of the incident and the details the driver gave you. They will sort it out
As for the courtesy car - your insurance company will provide one (if you took that option in your policy)1 -
Re the Mercedes comment, maybe they're Sheila Bloom from Friday night dinner?Wonka_2 said:

You are not in North Wales are you? Both of my parents had run ins with the local Arriva buses.Fashion on the Ration 2026. Coupons used, 6 pairs of socks non-wool 6, 4 cotton vests 12, sleeveless wool cardigan 5, total 23.

Been clipped regularly where we live - nearside mirrors, scrapes along the side. Bus stop opposite and buses passing this side can’t get past another parked bus without slowing but they’re oblivious to that. Fortunately the stop this side is only 50 yds further along the road and I’ve managed to stop the bus on two occasions; in both instances the driver denied any knowledge but fortunately passengers have witnessed.0

Surely this is all part of the driving test? How can you be a driver without knowing this basic stuff? As others have said, your insurer will sort it won’t. Bizarre.1

Plus a lot of the buses now have CCTV cameras mounted on several places so their transport dept /IT dept will look and cofirm who was at fault ,not saying you are but seen loads of these claims on the tv program claimed and Shamed.0

Very strange to firstly engage a solicitor for something your insurance covers
Presumably your solicitor saw ££ and just signed you up. Now they have written to them you will incur those solicitor costs which could have been avoided
As you took the insurance details pass them on to your insurance which was presumably the reason you took them in the first place.
They will sort it from there. If you haven't paid for a courtesy car there will be a hire company near you ready to sign you up for a hire vehicle. (If you do this make sure you do a full inspection and take photos when you collect the vehicle so you don't get stung for damage which it may already have, when you give it back)0 -

And if you do take the hire car, make sure beforehand who’ll be responsible for those costs and if there’s any limits. Have heard tales of people going ahead and hiring a car then finding out their insurers won’t cover the costsHampshireH said:Very strange to firstly engage a solicitor for something your insurance covers
