So Energy Smart Meters

Are there any So Energy customers here who have had smart meters installed?  I have been trying for months, possibly even a year, and every time I go to book an installation I am told there are no appointments available in my area (NE Scotland).  Now for the past week I've been getting a message that the smart meter installation booking section of their website is down for maintenance.  I contacted So Energy about it a while ago and I got some generic, "make a booking through the website, blah, blah, blah," response.  Have any MSE forumites been successful in getting smart meters out of So Energy?

    Sorry it's a bit of a while ago now but we used to be with So Energy and they installed our current smart meters, but that was just pre covid.

    I only mention it as it was also a bit of a curse as ever since they were installed the electric meter would constantly send welcome to So Energy messages to the IHD - in the end I just stopped deleting the IHD messages and after it got to 4 (in 20mins) it just then became a permanent new message icon on the screen. The IHD is great for dynamic load monitoring though.

    So Energy were never able to fix that fault since the meters were installed - when we moved to Octopus, last year, we found out why, neither electric or gas meter had been commissioned correctly, something Octopus fixed in 2hrs, including updating the national meter database, to prove they were smets2 meters.

    We'd been with So Energy for about 10yrs prior and hadn't had any real issues, but I think the covid period and high electric and gas prices have unfortunately taken there toll on So Energy and we left last year when at times they appeared like a rudderless and staff less ship......

    I'm with SO Energy and I had a guy come to the door about a year ago to install a Smart meter. I was just heading out and had no prior notice of this visit.  He was surprised I knew nothing about it but said he would report back and I would get a letter with a new date for intsallation. 

    Heard nothing since.
    Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

    I got a smart gas meter from So on the 14th April.  I'm only with them for gas.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    Hmmm, thanks for the replies folks. I guess I’ll keep on trying, or not and just stick with taking meter readings myself. That said I’ve had issues for about a week now trying to enter those online because my account isn’t syncing when I log online. Perhaps covid and rising prices has taken its toll on So Energy. I’ve been with them for years and I’m still in a fixed contract until February 2024 so I’ll reevaluate then.

    At last!  I finally managed to book the installation of my smart meters for next week.  Fingers crossed they turn up.
