Best insurance for non-package holidays?

Hi, I'm trying to find the best insurance that effectively covers non-package (flights & accommodation booked separately) holiday in the summer. Any ideas?

Anxious about being let down having booked it this way but it was the most affordable way to get away and we've been let down in the past (albeit on a package deal) with air traffic control strikes in France meaning we never actually got off the runway in the UK.

Package providers will often sell insurance products as an add-on, but those products aren't inherently for packages as such, so any insurance policy should cover separately-booked travel arrangements, although the usual rules apply about ensuring that cover is suitable for your specific requirements, i.e. what is it that would make a policy 'best' for you?

As above, good advice, it doesn't matter if your holiday is a package or DIY .....go for the best deal you can find that covers your needs.

Research prior to booking and buy at the same time. Lots of people believe they do not  need it until they leve the country and disregard fact that life can get in the way beforehand. Also apply for global health card

What you want is conveniently called travel insurance

You just want to ensure your particular policy covers carrier failure as its the main differential between a DIY and package holiday. Similarly ensure you are booking straight through tickets if you have a change as many fall for the "self transfer" or "hack tickets" and dont realise its not a single ticket.
