TalkTalk will not honor their emailed price

Options
Hi,
Wanted to warn people.
I recently got an end of contract email from TalkTalk. In it it said i could stay on my current price and quoted it. with an asterisk * next to it
looking at the bottom of the page it said  '* if you choose to remain on this package, your monthly price will rise each April with effect from April 2024 in line with the consumer price index.'
I stayed on my account with no changes but they put the price up with CPI from April 2023 I phoned them and I am waiting for the recording of the phone call to post but the lady said that Talk Talk will not honor the price given to me.
the are con-merchants give you a written price but charge you more by ~15%
check yours and if you have any advice please let me know

Thanks

Your April 2023 rise was already included in your T&Cs before you received that email - it was on your previous package.

You would think but they listed the price it would be from this April to next April in the email and then went up from that.
On the phone call they confirmed that it should be the lower price but will not honour it!

So did you renew, probably for 24 months at the prevailing price , or did you simply remain  ‘out  of contract ‘ but at the same price you were paying ?, if you renewed and the T&C’s state that if you did renew the first increase won’t  apply April 2024 then you have a case , ( in fact many providers offered this if someone renewed their contract in the month the 2023  increase was going to be applied , they avoided the increase for 12 months ) but if you didn’t renew for 24 months , and simply went onto a rolling 1 months notice to quit contract, then it’s  legitimate to have had an increase April 2023 , but you would be free to leave with no penalty , only needing serving the notice period, should the new price be unacceptable .
The worst case scenario would be to have delayed the renewal, (if the offer to renew and avoid the increase had a date you had to renew by ) if  you missed  that date ( but did renew shortly after ) that’s just unfortunate, but the increase is legitimate
