Direct debit setup with online contract

Hope someone can shed some light

I recently tried out at 2 gyms (Dont wish to name the gyms but both are part of a martial arts community)

anyway after weighing up the pros and cons I decided I would sign up with one of the gyms, on a 7 month contract £40 per month entitling me to go once a week initially,

when I signed up i was directed thru a company called simplyjoin.co.uk

unfortunately i must of had both gyms details up and although I intended to sign up with one gym, when the completed details came thru it had signed me up with the other gym !

The owner of the gym i wanted to join had spoken to the other gym and confirmed my error, and said  i needed to email simplyjoin and they should be able to change the details to the new gym,

I have done this, and as its the bank holiday weekend I appreciated I probably wont get a reply for a few days,

however when I was signing up i noticed it said once sign up was completed that it cannot be cancelled!!

Which got me thinking surely there is some cooling off period with online ordering or signing up for stuff ?

sorry its a bit long winded but just wanted to get all the facts out,

Im sure simplyjoin will sort it out, but just want to know my options if they refuse,

Might be slightly tricky because although it's an online purchase, you did try both gyms out before purchase, so perhaps what are sometimes called "distance selling regs" don't apply here?

Anyway, it sounds like there's a solution in the offing, so perhaps you won't need to invoke consumer rights legislation.

Yeah hopefully they will be able to sort it out,
whats crazy is gym 1 was £39.99 a month and Gym 2 was £40 a month with £50 signing up fee, so distinctly different fees, and I choose the later option and it charged me the £50 membership fee that i paid with my credit card so i was sure i had the right gym selected,  but it signed me up to Gym 1 !

Even better.  It sounds like they've made a complete mess-up, so they should unwind the whole transaction and allow you to start again.
