Have been sent wrong item. Difficulty returning.

I know regulars are aware that my explanations can be confusing sometimes but I thought a direct analogy might be helpful, but I may well have confused the OP more.Pollycat said:

No, ‘no returns’ makes no difference at all to an SNAD claim. They are 2 entirely different things and have a different process.Steve348 said:
It's just that it seems to be that which is making it difficult or impossible for me to do "not as described".Again, ‘no returns’ has no place in this conversation, it has nothing at all to do with SNAD claims.
I accept that it was very unreasonable of me to brag about my never having had a return request! The sort of items I sell have no size or colour requirements: mainly mechanical, photographic, and electrical items. For a standard change of mind return where buyer accepts them then buyer has to return entirely at their own cost and needs to use a tracked postage for security. For a SNAD claim seller pays for return and cannot refuse.
Pollycat has said she doesn’t take change of mind returns, but I do. If either one of us sent you the wrong, or a damaged item we would be obliged to pay for you to return it and then refund you in full. However, if we sent you an item that you didn’t actually like on arrival, then Pollycat could refuse the return but I would need to accept it and eBay would supply my address to you so that you could pay to get it sent back.
Put the matter of ‘no returns’ out of your mind entirely, it is just confusing the matter and makes no difference to your issue.
Thanks for clarifying this.

Seller cannot start a SNAD return, only the buyer (and that's you) as above if you cannot see the options that the rest of us have then you need to speak to ebay to assist you. They should be able to start the claim for you but again as above you need to be very clear what you are asking when you contact them.Steve348 said:

Shortly after my original message to the seller, they tried to get a return label, but couldn't and asked me what to do. I suggested they contact eBay and they told the seller that I need to request a return, which is why I started this thread.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Wonder of wonders! Finally got to speak to a human! Not As Described case opened. Many thanks to everyone who has given me excellent advice. I still cannot understand why this was so difficult. I can feel my blood pressure declining.

Well done. Just watch the case now , seller should supply a label or arrange for ebay to do so, if they don't do that in a few days (there should be a date in the case somewhere giving you a time frame) then come back and ask how to proceed as if seller doesn't supply a label then you can get the case closed and get a refund anyway.Steve348 said:Wonder of wonders! Seller will now provide a returns label via eBay.
If seller asks you to send back in any other way, such as posting it back yourself for reimbursement later, sending it with no tracking, etc - do NOT entertain this. The seller should supply the returns label only.
Keep an eye on the case. If the label isn't supplied in the stated time frame then contact eBay again - they will most likely just refund you.
If the label is supplied, securely package and affix the label and send back.
Once the seller receives the item he has a certain number or days in which the refund must be issued.
Again, keep an eye on your case - if the number of days for the refund lapses, you can forward the case to eBay and they will just process the refund for you.1 -
Just to add, when the seller supplies a returns label, put the tracking or reference number into the relevant site just to check that a) it's a legit label, and b) not a copy of one that's already been used.
It's not normally a problem but with awkward sellers it's best to be safe rather than sorry.2 -
Thanks for the additional advice. I don't think there should be a problem. The seller doesn't seem dishonest, just careless, and probably as keen to get it sorted out as I am.
