Manhole key

Options
Can anyone advise where I can get a manhole key or keys to open this? Searching DIY sites only gives me T shaped keys which wouldn’t work on this. Thanks in advance

When you purchase your keys get a robust broom handle to use as a roller.

Lift inspection cover about a inch or two and kick roller under the cover then roll out onto drive, a lot easier on the back and less chance of dropping lid into chamber.

Just do reverse to put back in place after brushing frame clear of grit etc.

In these days of political correctness, I think you have to refer it as a person hole key, or maybe even non gender identifiable hole key….🤭

Some types need 4 keys and are a 2 man job as they need to be pulled up evenly. They can be difficult to budge if they have been in for a long time. You sometimes end up taking out the blocks.

I had a blockage and when the guy lifted it he pointed out that it needed some cement at the top as roots were getting in although that wasn’t the problem the blockage was further down.

It’s not blocks it’s pressed concrete so maybe not so heavy I hope! They guy seemed to lift it easy enough on his own but then he’s probably done it a million times!  Thanks.

At least you know it's not jammed. You might need a screw end for the keys. You can get universal kits that will do different types if you get stuck. Worth greasing the frame before sticking it back.

...and don't forget to apply plenty of manhole grease.  :)
