Tiny supermarket acers?
Are they dwarf or just a very young cutting that will get lots bigger?
I bought one for autumn colour and it's survived drought and frost and is looking very pretty. Id like another

No idea but I'll be interested in the answer. If they're only a little breed I'll get one meselfI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0

I bought one probably 7-8 years ago (red) - it lived in a pot and was probably about 18" high - then it was hit by lack of rain in May and all the leaves fell off about 3 years ago, I also moved to the south-west at the time. I brought this pathetic twig with me and planted it again in a pot - it grew like mad. It is now about 4ft across and 3ft high (above the pot). The main problem is the leaf colour - starts out a lovely red, then sometimes gets singed around the edges, then the leaves decide to turn green and some more drop off then some new red ones appear - was getting some pretty full sun so I have shifted it to get partial shade now. Suspect if I put it in a bigger pot or the ground it would grow ++
The answer to the question is that I suspect that they are just small plants rather than dwarf and will grow ++2 -
Brilliant Flugel, that's a nice size for my little garden
Mine went in the ground, after a few months and his bulked up. The leaves are definitely bigger.
Would look great giving shade to the tiny pond and colour in autumn.
Don't know if it's relevant but my neighbour got a red leaved one and it's not grown much. It's in an exposed spot where mine is shady and sheltered. Both cool areas.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

2p the decorative Acers are woodland plants and prefer those conditions, sheltered from winds and early morning sun can scorch the leaves. I’ve had them grow well in large tubs and the ground. No where near large tree size, also could be pruned to keep smaller I imagine. Some trees have weeping style branches, other quite slim and up right.
I have red varieties and green that change through to yellow peach and orange. Beautiful plants.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3 -
Wort, that does it. I want more :-)

Not sure of your budget but Aldi had pot grown Acers when I was there on Thursday. I think they were £12.99
I have 2 acers- red & yellowy green. One planted in a very large pot- it's got restricted root growth so the 'tree' is smaller but much bushier. The red one is planted in the ground- much bigger- 4ft? Both are in the shade and only get sun in very late afternoon: I've had them for quite some years.
I think one of these came from Wilko.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Nope, how good am I!
But I would have got the fruit tree. But some growing tip leaves were showing brown patches and curled. Other tree other damage. So my guardian angel was with me.
