Twin Heat A - Smart Meter

Hi all, I currently have an old style, dual rate meter, programmed to Twin Heat A times. I am looking to get a smart meter but would like to keep my 03:00-07:00 & 13:30-16:30 off peak times.

If I move to a smart meter, would I be able to keep these off-peak times?

Has anyone else done this?

Hi, to be honest I've never heard of Twin Heat A, but a thought occurs to me that may help you. Those times are typically pretty much the cheapest times for Octopus Agile (other than 16:00 to 16:30) and you might find that a good alternative. Also, Octopus have a Flux tarriff (I think that's what it's called) that has a similar pattern of off peak times. If you struggle to find a supplier who'll give you a smart meter for Twin Heat A it might be worth looking at the Octopus who will certainly install a smart meter for you (subject to caveats about connectivity, waiting times, etc.). Sorry this doesn't really answer your question, hopefully someone who can will be along soon. Mike.

Not familiar with the details on Twin Heat, but from a technical perspective, the actual meter should be perfectly capable of supporting those times. The real issue lies in whether or not the supplier will choose to support smart meter billing on such a tariff, which is essentially why Economy 10 is no longer offered.

Generally they tend not to continue most of the less common or legacy tariffs on smart meters, but this may be something that your supplier is best placed to answer (ideally get any confirmation in writing, as it’s not unheard of for customers to be advised incorrectly only to find they can’t actually get their old tariff on a smart meter after all).
    Moo…

Flux is around EPG rates for most of the day, its about 10p cheaper at night (2-5) but its about 10p more in the evening 4-7. The benefit of flux is that it has both an import and export component, and the export is generous most of the time, and even better during that 4-7 peak (and a bit less at night)
