The Google Pixel mobiles have got call a screen screen built in and is super.
Google assistant handles the call by pressing one button

One of the better things I have ever bought is a BT landline 'phone with call blocking.

Authorised numbers from my phonebook get straight through, "new" numbers have to press hash and record a message.
My 'phone doesn't even ring until there is a message recorded, so I don't get disturbed, but the number of calls increments on the display, so I know some autodiallers have failed the test.

Now I get them on the mobile.

I don't answer and expect a text if it was important, usually after a couple of hours google has flagged it as "spam" in my call log anyway.

(One of the benefits of having google spy on my every move, 'phone call, mesage and interweb activity)

Interesting you use another company that exploits your personal data to prevent a company that wants to exploit your personal data.

Only difference being one is apparently legitimate!

I do the same with the "it's about your car accident" calls.

Thank them politely for phoning and then ask them which of the three accidents you've had in the past fortnight. Usually gets them really interested to the point when they've had to go and get a supervisor to help.

They tend to be less than polite when they eventually twig that I'm leading them on.
I say "Oh the one I was killed in?" Many just carry on with their script after that. I had one continue with asking when it was, to which I answered "well, my funeral was in July, so a few weeks before that." He still went on, so I casted doubt upon his intelligence and hung up.  :)
I had one! Told him I had an accident in the car.

I'd opened a bag of crisps from the bottom. "Was there any damage?" Yes, the bag was ruined.
"Was there personal injury?" Yes, I smelt of cheese and onion all day.  Click brrr....

Thank you for the smiles :)
Tellit reminded me of the old days of cold callers.
I was in desperate need of a new kitchen and no one in the area sold them so when this lovely young student knocked I was delighted (thought I could get a design for free) and said, 'yes I'd love someone to call'.
Well, they were so thrown by an acceptance that they had to get a buddy. Another charming student and we went though yes, I'd like someone to call about the kitchen.

That was the last I heard. I was somewhat miffed that for once I'd like to take them up and nothing happened.

Now it's the independants - can't get anyone to fit a small bathroom for love or money.
    It must be me.

Spam calls, reduced by unplugging the land line and just plugged in to check for friends each night worked at getting rid of them.
Mobile. Never give the number for the 'loyalty cards' etc. Sheesh have you read their T&Cs? Very few people have the correct one.

And if you'd like a return smile try this. Never ceases to make me feel sorry for the guy on the end of the phone

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

One called me a 'lover-sucker' (or something sounding similar) when I'd kept him entertained for nearly an hour

I had one call me the same after she waffled on about my computer being infected, when I asked if that was why I kept finding
adult content on my PC she called me that and hung up.  I was driving at the time so could not string them on about finding the
    PC and slow startup.

Yeah, egged a few on... longest one was a call about an IVA saying I could have my debts. Was excited to hear about my Coutts overdraft, Centurion credit card debt, started smelling a rat with my Harrods store card debt but then got distracted when we moved on to car financing and talking of my Ferrari PCP.

After a good 15 minutes he decided an IVA wasnt for me and hung up.
