Sky yearly price hike question

I've just secured a deal to stay with Sky at £45 pm instead of £111. Part of the agreement is to tick that I accept a yearly price rise of up to 10%.

Does anyone know if the increase applies to my offer price (£45) or to the package price (£111)?

Sky CS didn't know for sure and said I'd have to call back to discuss with another dept. I always thought it was the former, but their reluctance to confirm this outright makes me wonder if it's the latter. I can do an extra £4.50 pm, but not £11.

    It'll be the original price.

Sky discounts work as a fixed discount on the original price, so when the underlying price goes up, the discount stays the same.

If you've got £80 down to £40, and the original price goes up to £90, your new price will be £50.

Your increase is always based on the non discounted rate.
In your case it starts with £111, and your discount is £66 so your rate is £45.

So 10% increase (worse case scenario) becomes £122.10 minus £66 which means your new price becomes £56.10.  You'll note this is actually more than 10% (logically you'll argue your new price should be £49.10, but that's not how the system works) - the increase is  on the out of contract rate and then your discount is applied.

Assume for £111 this is all-in TV (and maybe cinema and sports?), phone and broadband?  45% discount (ish) is on the low end of the discount scale but if you're happy that's all that matters.

Thanks so far....not what I wanted to hear, but I suppose everyone is going to face this in the future as their renewals are 18m. I don't think their calculations of the package total price is correct as this is what I've got:

    Sky signature £12
    Sky sports £15
    Sky cinema £12
    HD £5
    UHD £1
Free bolt ons - Discovery +, peacock TV and Paramount +

    £45

Does that package look like £111?

How did you get it soooooo cheap?

I was paying £71, then the price went up to £81 1st April.

Then out the blue it went up £114 with the following month due to go up to £120.

I called them up and confirmed I've just gone out of contract.

I discussed a new contract and they refused to waive a £20 admin fee(told sky no longer waive fees) I was also told I can't get a good offer. I told them I know you can offer me a good deal but he was adamant I'm not going to get a deal.

I told him let's discuss my exit and terminate my custom.

He sorted that out no problem. He didn't even care and was somewhat unhelpful.

Now we are with another company on 1st June, And will pay £50 less a month than sky wanted. Plus we get more for our money.

The difference is that I couldn't care whether I have sky or not. I've made that clear and I don't mind leaving them if its too expensive. I left them last time for nearly 18m and eventually went back for an all in TV package for £25pm. I left them on this occasion when they bumped it initially to £36 and then wanted £58...still a good saving, but I said no. I left them last month and this is their offer after 2hrs negotiating.

I'm happy with the offer, but it looks like I will have to accept the price hike next April for 6 months until I can jump again. I'd just like to know what that price hike is likely to be.

Sky's latest price increase was more than I thought the package was worth, so I ditched their broadband, Ultimate, and multiroom service; they didn't try at all to keep me on them.
I'll probably, after 20+years, ditch the whole service at next renewal (Jan 1st); the inflation plus extra is just taking the mick.
Oh, and isn't Discovery+ rubbish - you can't skip over the ads!

Well Sky Signature full price is £23, Sports is closer to £28 and Cinema is £19.  The HD is £9 and the UHD add on should be £4 on top.  That leaves your internet at £28, which is around the going rate depending on your speed/package for that, though in theory by bundling everything with one provider it should work out cheaper - whether it does is another matter.  You don't have Sky Mobile or anything like that?

You can see how all these costs mount up when you break it down.

Thanks, the package price looks to be worth £83 by my calculations (assuming the bolt ons don't come at additional cost when selecting those packages eg, free paramount when taking cinema).

I don't include Internet in that price. My package is for tv only

On my (undiscounted) price breakdown - Signature £34,Sports £32,SportsHD £6 and HD £9 - I'm actually paying £43 in total.
So adding £19 for Cinema gives £100 pm!  God knows how Sky got to £111 UNLESS they were charging for the "free" addons?

Yeah I looked at it afterwards and thought that doesn't seem right.   I must have been thinking of the old Entertainment package.

£111 sounds like it could have been a legacy pre Signature deal?
