HELP TO SAVE QUERY

I have a Direct Debit set at the beginning of each month to pay £50 into my Help to Save account. The account was opened in September 2022.
I have just received an email - which also appears in the Messages section of my .gov account.
It says a payment made on 2 May 2023 has been returned to my Bank because I tried to pay in more than £50 this month.
But the Direct Debit each month is the only payment I made. I never make a manual payment to the H2S account and having checked my Bank Account on line, there is no extra payment showing.
Has this happened to others? Or is it a glitch in the .gov system?
Thanks

Is the HTS run by a bank? If so contact them. My wife had the same with a Help to Buy but shed doubled paid so the bank returned them.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

No, it's a Government saving scheme aimed at low/no earners on certain benefits.0

Irrespective of what happened / may have happened, I would now check your H2S account on HMRC's website to confirm whether a £50 deposit has gone in for this month or not, and if not make a manual payment to ensure you do not miss out on this months £50 saving. The good thing about having the DD at the start of the month is you have time to manually fix things if there is ever an issue with the payment, and not lose out as a result. Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter1
