New HSBC Account

I'd like to open an HSBC Account in UK and get the switch bonus of 200 pounds. I already have an HSBC account but in Malaysia in local currency. Would this prevent me from opening one in UK and claiming the switch bonus?

It didn't stop me, I got a £175 when they did an offer a year or two ago - and I have a Malaysian HSBC account as well. I still have it - and I can see the Malaysian account in my UK app - and my UK account in my Malaysian app - but you need both apps on your phone to actually do anything on either account.

Has anyone actually been successful with the latest switch to HSBC (with free £200 on offer)? If so, what were the exact answers you gave to their questions? We said the account was to be used for savings - we have an excellent Credit Rating but, apparently, this was not good enough for HSBC's seemingly impossibly high standards. We were fobbed off with signing up to their bog standard account if we wanted (no chance!!!) so deduced this is something of a mild scam to get you to sign up to them without their having to hand out £200. You need to highlight this apparent deceit, Martin.0

I've not had a problem so far. Account just opened this week, waiting for the switch to happen then expecting the £200. One thing I'm not sure about is if you can switch again once the £200 has been paid
