Market research company not paying

I recently had a market research that was due to pay out 28 days after the research finished. I am struggling with the company to get payment.
The actual MR was an hour session over zoom rather than in person.
The payment didn't arrive, so I emailed the company that set this up and they promised I would be paid by a date 2 days later, this came and went and no payment. I emailed back again, attaching an image of their website that showed that I had been booked and completed the session. Still no payment. Now they are saying they need to look into it as I am not on the project teams list of people who did the research. I feel I am running out of options.
For those unfamiliar with MR, the sessions are booked through MR companies but are run by the research departments or outsourced of the company that wants the research. But this really shouldn't be my concern. The MR company booked me and promised me a payment and so it should be them that pay me. If they have a problem with the company that contracted them, it isn't my issue to resolve.
