Haircuts? Car tax? Dentist??

If you go bankrupt, what type of things other than rent, travel expenses, groceries etc. are you supposed to include in your SOA?
For example, because I have to travel some distance to and from work each day my poor little car has had to have alot of work done to ensure she keeps running; would I have to include that? And what about things like the dentist, hairdressers, car tax and car insurance, pets etc?

    Hi
You are allowed about £10 pm per adult and £5 pm per child for haircuts. You can put asome down for dentist, optician and prescriptions. A small bit away depending on family size for a 'modest' holiday £20-40. Car tax, maintenance , breakdown cover and insurance as well. Also pet insurance.

These links will give you some idea.

  • Hi,

On the BR forms i put car expenses under other expenses the CAB told me the allowance i was allowed due to my family they also allowed me more for food etc than i originally put down. I also got them to check the forms for me before going to court, they were most helpful.

Include everytihng you spend money on to live a basic life and this usually allows to have a little spare if you budget your weekly shop etc as some of the allowances are generous.

  • re -dentists i was allowed the £18 month i pay to denplan for my teeth, and the £10 a month dog insurance ,but i didnt put anything down for "hols" so perhaps thats why it was allowed paula

    Hi tigerfeet,
It's not very often I query your posts, in fact this is probably the first,  but what sort of holiday can you enjoy for £240?:D :D Even for one person, that's not going to rent a caravan in Cleethorpes for a long weekend, and it would be a very long weekend.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • For £240 you can have a week at my modest home in leafy Lytham, close to beach with a morning breakfast of no frills (no meat) bacon and an egg. No evening meal, no tv, no en-suite, no towels provided, no heating, but a friendly grimace each morning..what more could you want???
I think most put down holidays as a means of having some extra money to pay for sky/internet/evenings out/living.
Anyway, if anyones interested in the above holiday then call me
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Though I probably could have worded it better. I was trying to type and deal with a fractious baby. So just for you

    Does that sound better?

Oh!! and you can query my posts all you like if you think I have the wrong info.

  • Seriously - my last holiday was 3 years ago and it was with my ex's parents, his brother, his sister & her OH. And my 2 yr old DD and her 3 yr old cousin.

That holiday was a major factor in our break up. I got used as a babysitter, didn't get any time alone with OH and we got dumped with his sisters kid when her and her OH went off every night to get p*ssed. I swear, I spent a week reading Mr Men books and co-ordinating colouring sessions.

Villa wasn't child friendly either so was constantly on the look out for drowning children. That was pretty much my only alcohol free week in the last 8 years cos I was so scared of the kids being hurt.

We also ran out of money as ex drank it all......

BLTN's offer sounds like luxury :D
