removing moss from roof

I've cleared some from the garage roof as it was growing under the tiles and some tiles were misaligned which in concert with the very shallow angle of the roof resulted in the roof leaking during heavy rain and strong winds. I couldn’t say if the moss was pushing the tiles up or just taking advantage but it needed to come out to reseat the tiles, I'll pay closer attention from now on. For the moss in the gutter I fitted bristles in gutter a few years ago and have had no problems since.2

That's interesting. My neighbour has put in a 'hedgehog' so I'm waiting to see what effect it will have. I get the idea that it will get clogged with crud and all have to come out to be cleaned but could be wrong. It's a lovely white to match the gutter at the moment
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We've been in our house 35 years and only had one instance of the gutter being blocked by moss, at the point it entered the downpipe. It took longer to put the ladder up than to clear the blockage. That's a lot cheaper than paying somebody to scrape the moss off, and then wait for it to form again.

I have two huge ash trees outside my house, and all the local crows seem to roost and nest there ( often see 60 or 70 flying into them at night ). Them and the magpies seem to love the moss and picking it off so have never needed to clean it off myself1

I've never liked the gutter hedgehogs for the reason EssexExile mentioned. I would use gutter guard which stop stuff falling into the gutter in the first place.

I clear the gutter out once a year - at the same time as putting the Christmas lights up.
The problem of moss has reduced for me since the birds are no longer nesting in the chimney.YNWA

I was going to ask about that stuff Greengage. I bought some years ago and it's still in the garage. Seems it would be easy to fit and whip out to clean etc.
Happily I've moved to a bungalow and a small set of steps and rubber gloves sorts it.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
