100% agree it's a Latch fault I call it 'sticking' correct term of course is not retracting enough -thanks
This type of Latch fail after 5-6 years- is this to be expected, should I try another set of handles from another range.

Was the handle still turning when you were stuck in there, or was it completely solid? If it was still moving, but the door wasn't opening then that is definitely a problem with the latch, not the handles
Any handles will do as there really isn't anything to go wrong with them. The handles and the latch are separate pieces, so if you buy new handles then you don't normally get the latch with them. When you remove the handles you should be able to see the metal part still in the door, with a square hole in the middle of it. The handles just turn this with the square bar that goes through the handle, and that is what make the latch retract1 -
Your pictures are not actually bathroom door handles. The bathroom handles fitted by builders can be locked from the inside and have a sort of emergency release on the outside.
However since you don't need locking handles I recommend that you have all your latches replaced with roller ball doorlatches such as these, a very simple job:

You can then have any handles you like without fear, even keep your old broken ones if you wish, the door will open every time.
PS: all latches, even roller balls, do need a tiny amount of loving care to give their best. A touch of spray lubricant for locks once a year is enough.1 -

I have used right hand force thinking it would 'budge' when piece snapped clean.
The opposite side of door now has handles removed by Emergancy crew -that metal rod that goes straight through door before either sides of handles attach to-Is it possible it's thats what stuck. i.e. square bar.
The door wasn't opening-then it was latch from above info

Is it possible to buy door handle packs to include those Security Roll Bars, or purchase separate.
Thanks appreciated as my FD30 Fire Door does have Emergancy Latch where I don't use a Key to open or unlock door from inside.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

@mi-key
thanks it was phenomenon rescue effort.
Not finding much luck arranging FD30 Fire door repair though starting via home emergency, before local joiner visit.
