Currently working 15 hours as permitted work on Contribution Based ESA support group

See under universal credit you able earn 18 hours and still keep all uour benefits.

Is this now available for those on ESA as I have not been transferred over to UC as yet ??

Anyone know the rules and changeover expectations ie the latest updates

Many thanks

Mangled 😊

    UC has no limits.

    ESA rules are unchanged.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

CB ESA isn't being changed over to UC, as it isn't an income related benefit.

If you have any entitlement to UC then your ESA would be deducted in full from a UC award.

I am unaware under which work rules an award of ESA + UC would fall under.

It falls under the rules for each respective benefit so although ESA would still have permitted work rules, UC would not and any earnings would impact on UC after any appropriate work allowance had been applied. Plus, as you mention, CB ESA would also be deducted from UC.

    As the others have said:
Permitted work under ESA has not changed, it's still under 16 hours and/or under 16x Minimum Wage.
If you exceed those limits the ESA will stop.
CB ESA will not be migrated to UC.
However you may be eligible to claim UC anyway, (as well as CB ESA) which may make you better off overall.*
If you are able to claim UC then your current CB ESA would be deducted from it £ for £, but that should still leave you with more overall.
However if you did then increase your hours/wages to over 16 hours then the ESA would stop (because of the PW limits) but UC would continue to be paid.
If you are not able to claim UC then do not work more than 16 hours, or earn more than 16x NMW, if you do your ESA will stop leaving you with nothing.
*Use one of the benefits calculators here to check if you are eligible to claim UC: https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
