Buying National Insurance Years, which years are filled first?

I've spoken to the Pension Forecast people and they have confirmed that I'm 8 years short of a full state pension and have given me my 18 digit code to buy the additional years.

The cost of buying individual years currently varies between £795.60 and £824.20 so I was wondering if I don't purchase all 8 years in which order do they allocate the money I pay.

When I called I told them which years I wanted to buy before they gave me the 18 digit code and they confirmed the total amount to pay and I believe the code is generated on that basis.

This. You have already told them and changing the amount you pay will likely lead to it all going horribly wrong.

Thanks for the replies.

While I need to buy 8 years for the full state pension, the Pension Forecast people said the 8th year will only increase it a small amount so I said i'd have a think about whether to pay 7 or 8 years. I then accepted their offer to transfer me through to the people who give out the 18 digit code and they gave me the code without me specifying how many years I wanted to pay.

I was therefore wondering if they allocate payments in a certain order such as most recent missing year first?

The code is specific to the question asked (or passed across in the phone call transfer) so it will be for all 8 years. if you only want to pay for 7 then you will need a new code
