Selling locally / no postage

Hi all,

I'm trying to have a declutter and give away some items while selling other more valuable items, and wanted to ask whats the best platform to sell locally. Postage would be tricky for a few reasons
- for bulky items, the postage costs outweigh the item value
- going to the post office during opening hours would be quite difficult with my other commitments, I'd rather just drop or wait for someone to collect during mutually convenient times
- for older items, I'd rather give the buyer the chance to see the item in person and then pay cash / paypal on collection rather than relying on my description and then face disappointment if there's a feature I didn't test or an angle I didn't photograph.

Is there any platform that's more geared towards this or has more buyers willing to arrange local collection?

Thanks

(Grr silly updated editor not allowing the useful quoting functions)

For things that are suitable for postage perhaps Royal Mail's collection option would be useful?

Facebook Marketplace is good for cash on collection. eBay can be set up for collection only but has more rules.

We use Gumtree. No postage, collect only, no selling fees. Lots of time wasters though. Good photos, good description & competitive prices should do the job for you.

Firstly if buyer is collecting DO NOT take PayPal, how are you going to protect yourself against an INR claim without online delivery confirmation ? Cash on collection is the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to sell face to face.

I've done very well on FB marketplace in the past, it has really died off recently though , but as above I find Gumtree is just scammer after scammer . Alternatively find a local group on FB , I belong to loads, and try listing as cash on collection on there.

Marketplace works for me too on some things, but you do get the scammers (courier bringing cash) as well as the timewasters. Think I'd be a millionaire by now if I had £1 for each time on a listing marked "Collection only", someone replies with...well, you know
