Insurance position on front door with internal thumbturn
My parents need a new lock on their UPVC front door. Is a euro cylinder with internal thumbturn suitable for insurance purposes or much both sides be key operated?

Depends on what declarations they make about what locks they have and always worth double checking the policy wordings too

Are there any other key operated deadlocks on the door, we sadly have UPVC external doors with anti snap eurolocks and cannot have thumbturn because the insurance requires key operated.

No other key operated deadlock on the door. Looks like we need to avoid them although would have been useful.

Not necessarily, just make sure you declare what lock you have correctly. There will be circumstances where an insurer requires a minimum security standard but in most cases its self inflicted… get a discount for having an alarm then you need to use it etc

Having thumbturns on exit routes is the only safe thing and insurers should not be requiring otherwise.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Not so safe for your possessions when someone can just reach in and unlock your door… there is however little difference compared to someone who leaves the key in the lock all the time.

From memory most of the questions ever asked when going through quotes is what kind of lock is used. Usually it’s a choice of multi point locking system which UPVC doors are. It never actually asks what operates the actual lock.DullGreyGuy said:https:\/\/forums.moneysavingexpert.com\/discussion\/comment\/80027120#Comment_80027120<\/a><\/p>No other key operated deadlock on the door.
