Tiny pond and mossie breeding?
Comments

I put mine in the front garden surrounded by chicken wire and the little Princess guarded it for an hour...

Well for once the sun came out and the'pond' turned green and little frog came up for air!
I have a straw sack that I'm assured will clear the pond but now have to make hideaway, steps and shade!
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Strawstack didn't work but the frog did.So far weeks of hot weather and the mossie level low - even with all doors and windows open. Now got some pond weed in to see if that will help clear it..........came with a leach or two from another pond so that may be my next problem

Update - the piece of copper pipe seems to be doing the trick for larvae so far...I've just been bitten on the ankle so will tr the salt trick now.

Thanks for reminding me. I've 2 bites after the thundery rain but they don't itch so not sure.Fair play the pot pond has been too warm for frog. Looks like I'll sacrifice my hidden shady corner to a proper pond instead of me chilling out with a book in hot weather.Remember salt for a gargle too. Sore throat or catarrh, Grandfather always used it.

Mosquito Milk is very good to repel mosquitos. It's in a roll-on form so easy to apply before going into the garden. Contains geranium oil so maybe a potted geranium near where you sit might help? Changed my gardening life. I can actually sit out in the evenings now. Thanks for the copper pipe tip. I'd forgotten about that, I'm going to try it in the water butts. I actually threw some copper coins into our man made stream and waterfall and garden visitors followed, very mse!The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

I'll look that up Eney, the more ideas the merrier.
If im walking I use citronella oil mixed with aqueous cream or almond oil. That worked even in the Amazon. They use lemons there.
But I like having the windows and doors open in the evening and not smelling of lemons. May do if we get that heatwave!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I like the idea of making your own. I seem to remember the Spanish use some kind of lemon oil. I keep a bottle of 'mozzie milk' as we call it in the car. It's come in useful for walks and even trips into garden centresThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

Needs must. They've stopped making the citronella sticks and roll on.
Last night I had a bite, not mossie. I sprayed it with a saline nasal spray .... it was quicker than finding the salt. It worked!
While you could mix your own in a spray bottle or these are boots childrens nasal spray about £2'60
Amazing what we can solve when we get togetherI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes thanks for that info. I've heard of putting vinegar on but not salt. We get midges rather than mossies. The bites seem to warm up and itch like mad for a long time. A spray sounds like a good idea. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
