I bought 2009 Toyota Verso 1.8 V-MATIC TR M-DRIVE with 1 owner from new and only done 41000 miles. it has had first 7 services done by toyota main dealer and rest done by independant garage. It is due for Mot and Service end of may. What do you guys recommend getting done as part of the service? It will be it’s 14th service.I was thinking of taking it my local independant garage i have always used and ask him to just change engine oil, engine oil filter and also get brake fluid changed as there is no mention when it was changed. It has only done 1200 miles since it was serviced last May. It was intermediate service which was done. Or just do MOT and dont change anything.

Also one more help please I am planning to buy this oil 5W30 PFE Fully Synthetic Motor Oil  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261867937555?epid=644550015&hash=item3cf88b9f13:g:S~kAAOxyVLNS3SD1

Is this the right oil for my car.

Put your reg in a few web sites, See if you can find the exact spec number.
    Look for a code like this PSA B71 2312 & 2302

Oil & filter change as a minimum every year, even if you do 1000 miles.
Without your reg it’s hard to narrow it down to be sure.
But with your basic info, 0w-20 oil for your car.

I would change the air filter and pollen filters if your up to it.
5w-30 can be used, plus it’s a lot cheaper.

May be worth having a full CVT gearbox oil drain and renew.

Full drain with drain plug out, remove gearbox inspection cover, clean out cover, replace filter screen, clean any magnets, new gasket and refill.

Don't change the CVT transmission fluid unless they really know what they are doing, the fluid is expensive, it will scrap the trans if the wrong fluid is used. (I've changed two that were incorrectly serviced!)

1200 miles since the last service on a 14 year old car? I would just MOT it. The oil and filter will be just fine if you changed it last time. Oil is not suddenly going to go off in 12 months.
  • I think the Denso iridium twin tip spark plugs are good for economy and supposedly good for over 100 000 miles. I have fitted them on both of my Toyota cars.

If you don't go on motorways. You may not need to change the coolant as it kicks in at 82 - 91 C. Super long life pink coolant is expensive at £45 for 5 litres. I believe you can test the coolant with a multimeter with the car running if you get 0.3 volts I will change. This is something that you have to do yourself as it can take a week for the coolant to get into the system, you have to keep filling it every day or 2 days!

Maybe also do a load test on the battery using a multimeter. It will give an idea of when to change the battery at the best time.

Though on car oil and filter opinions vary a lot I will not go there.
