I've found this very useful guide that tells you how much it cost to heat water and/or boil a kettle (and other devices, like heaters) https://www.sust-it.net/boiling-kettle-cost-calculator.php
Let me know what you think. 🙂

"Calculations are based on a 3000W kettle" - and what if it's not 3kW?!Personally, I can easily do this with my watch and a basic calculator that offers far more flexibility.E.g. for 2kW and 200sec2*200/3600*0.34
As simple as that.

Or 2*200/3600*0.18 in my case. Stroke of luck locking into Ovo 2 year fix prior to energy prices exploding ;-)grumbler said:E.g. for 2kW and 200sec2*200/3600*0.34

It won't make much difference if it's a lower wattage kettle, so long as you're boiling the same amount of water. The lower wattage kettle will take longer to boil, but will be using less power while doing so. But the total amount of heat you have to apply to the water to boil it remains the same.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
