Silly M&S Policy

Bought a pair of jeans at the weekend from M&S. I tried them on and the zip felt a bit 'sticky' at one point. It seemed to go up and down ok though, and as there was not another pair in my size, I figured I'd just take them.

Put them on the next day and after an hour, several of the teeth in the zip just popped out.

Took them back to M&S and as there still wasn't another pair in my size, I asked if they could order me in a replacement pair.

Seems that's not policy though........they have to send the item away for repair, in this case they would put in a new zip.

Told the nice lady that I wasn't happy with that and I wanted an exchange but she said I couldn't get one, the garment couldn't be exchanged, it had to be repaired, as 'that was M&S policy'.

I then pointed out that the zip had obviously been defective and I now wanted a refund. Okay she says, and she refunds me.

I then toddle over to another desk and order in the jeans again.

:rotfl:

M&S may have new (?) policies........but they're flaming stupid.

    hehe!

my friend works in m&s and she says that people are upto trying new tricks, but m&s cannot do anything about yet.
If someone buys an expensive joint of meat or salmon etc... and walks out the food court and then back in and says they changed their minds and wants their money back, m&s usually give your money back and the meat as they dont know if you've contaminated it or not. Not all stores support the policy of giving it back to the customer, but hers does.

Think its very funny myself, i havent done it, i dont do m&s! last time i went in there was ooh about 18yrs ago

They were breaching your statutory rights by saying it had to be repaired and you were right to ask for your money back.

I wonder if this is a new policy or if the assistant simply misdirected herself. I can see them having a lot of hassle from customers if they take this sort of line.
