There no such thing as a joint credit card, there will be one account holder. Of course just adding an additional cardholder will achieve the same end.0

Generally there is no such thing as a joint credit card in the UK. It will be a second user card on the primary user account.

I have the Halifax Clarity credit card and my wife is an additional card holder. We have our own cards and separate pin numbers but everything comes through on the one account.0

Worth remembering that the main card holder on a "joint" credit card is responsible for all debts.

others have explained the concept of additional card holder on a Credit Card, but worth mentioning that Travelling to the US one should seriously consider a Chase UK bank account (both of you should open one). It has a virtually unique feature of allowing free ATM withdrawal at Chase extensive network if ATM (every stares but for Alaska and Hawaii) at 0 forex fee, plus 1% cashback. This could be backed up by a forex fee free Credit Card like Barclaycard Rewards or Halifax Clarity. I recommend it to a friend that went on a road trip across Arizona and California and she could not stop thanking me for how well Chase worked (aside of having personally experienced across NY, California, Florida, Georgia and Alabama).
