This wouldn't even be a question if EDF had just put total amount used before the discounts somewhere on the bill.

What is your new DD that EDF requests?

They usally want you to repay tje debt within 6 months, that is £200. You were using slightly over £1400 electricty, which will not be much less in summer, and lets add £120 gas for summer. so £250 energy cost on top of the repayment.

That is £450 you will have to apy just to catch up by end  of summer, going into winter aagain with zero credit.

We've completed a review and calculated your Direct Debit for the year ahead. The review showed there's an outstanding amount of £1,204.19 that is now due. Don't worry, this balance is included in your Direct Debit, so you can pay it back across the year through your monthly payments.

I am not really concerned. I will pay whatever whenever.

That would be too simple :-)

  • It would seem that EDF has a policy of refunding all credit balances over £150 at the annual review. Clearly, with a CAP of £2500 and rising, a monthly DD payment of £112 per month was never going to be enough unless the OP was an extremely low energy user.

EDF’s 6 monthly billing policy hardly helps consumers monitor their consumption and potential debt.

Looking at the dates in the first post that 'six monthly bill' lasted 8 months.
