Thanks. Well if they think they're going to steal money from me and that im just going to let it happen they've got another thing coming. We have an ill relative and all the stress of that at the minute too. I will be billing them for the additional stress as well as the return of the money. Who do they think they are?!
So, if they steal the money from us, is the next step small claims court? Is that how this works or is it an ombudsman first? Does anyone know?

By the way, it's not a credit card, but a debit card and I think that means the card company don't have to give your money back.
Also, how dare Enterprise try to scam the debit card providers?!! Which is exactly what this is. If I get money back from the debit card provider, they're stealing from them too.0 -
You can try, but you have no right to anything other than your actual loss.SatsumaCod said:Thanks. I suggest you calm down a bit and refrain from accusing them of theft, etc., because you could turn a very solid court claim (if it comes to it) into a more ambiguous outcome.1 -
You have proof of that?SatsumaCod said:By the way, it's not a credit card, but a debit card and I think that means the card company don't have to give your money back.

Stick to facts, follow the advice given and I'm confident it'll turn out well for you. Chuck a load of emotion and baseless accusations in and you might just end up with a less successful outcome.1 -
No, because it will still debit your account (Credit or Debit Card) As you have usage at the company.SatsumaCod said:Thank you all.
The question remains...would you cancel the card? What if they take the money for the "repair"? How would I get it back if they took it?
In effect you would be looking at a chargeback. But in reality they will just contest it with the invoice they provided you with. So you will be redebited.
You could try

But do not know if this will cover UK companies anymore. Used to do.Life in the slow lane0 -
Looks like it won't apply for a hire within the UK for someone resident here:born_again said:You could try

But do not know if this will cover UK companies anymore. Used to do.The conciliation service can only help with disputes involving a ‘cross-border’ rental transaction occurring within the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK - you must be a resident of the EU or UK and the rental must have taken place in a different EU country.

That was my thought looking at it, But Op could contact them to confirm.Life in the slow lane0

Sorry, but are you saying that if the hire company charge against his card and the OP tried to raise a chargeback, the bank would reverse or refuse any chargeback because the hire company can produce an invoice - even an invoice that the OP is challenging and could just have been made up for all the bank knows?born_again said:

Yep. If they can provide the proof. Given that OP can not physically say for certain (photo or signed inspection sheet) this is odds on going to end up redebited.Manxman_in_exile said:

Without proof from OP, bank would be within their rights to refuse a chargeback, as that is part of the chargeback rule. You can try it on, in the hope that hire co will not contest.
I can say that some hire co's do not contest, but that always ends up in the hands of debt collectors.
It will drop in Visa/Mastercards hands. Your bank does not make the decision on liability.Life in the slow lane1 -
