Replacing electric fire with gas fire

    Are they actually more economical though? Electric fires usually have a thermostat so will click on and off and maintain a room temperature. Many gas fires just belt out until you do something. If going gas I'd definitely want that level of control.

    The control is getting up and turning down the knob on the gas fire if you're getting too hot.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    Many now have a remote for that now too but I still think the temptation to get beyond warm enough is great with them which becomes money down the drain.
