Card Suspended

Be aware Centrica Hive have carried out an exercise a day before a bank holiday to check the validity of their payment cards.  I received this message this morning “£0.00 (Centrica Hive) has just been debited from your XXXX Credit Card ending XXXX. Do you recognise this? Reply asap with VALID for yes or FRAUD for no.”  My card was suspended so I called my Bank.  I took 45 minutes to get through to my Banks Fraud Office.  My Bank were great sorted it out.  The Bank confirmed the delay was due to the volume of calls generated by this Centrica exercise.  THANK YOU CENTRICA 👎

Your bank is the organisation responsible for setting the rules by which your account is flagged for suspicious activity, not Centrica. Presumably you have a CPA which allows Centrica/Hive to charge payments to your card continually, in which case they have done nothing wrong (although a little strange that they'd need to run a zero authorisation on a card they already held a CPA for, presumably some system migration or something).

If you were expecting a payment from them or have payments to them, then just text back "Y"

So was it a genuine payment ? This would help other users.
