ebay & Shiply & PayPal question

I'm a private ebay seller of some of my furniture. Usually buyers arrange their own Shiply courier. If they don't know how, I do it for them using my own Shiply a/c. This means I pay out the Shiply booking fee or deposit. I ask my buyers to refund me via PayPal, in full and not as a business.I insist I get repaid before Shiply collect the item from me. The buyer then pays the balance to the Shiply driver on delivery. The buyer can see the Shiply invoice via the Shiply link.

Now I have a buyer struggling to make the PayPal payment. I gave my PayPal email address, which has always been enough. I think she is genuine, as she hasn't visited the Shiply link I sent her either. Shiply have collected from me this morning. (yes, I let it go!) She is asking to pay by a different method or wait for her OH tonight.

Please advise of safe money transfer methods that can't be reversed.

Ask for a bank transfer.

I’m really not sure I like your selling model though, it sounds very complicated and open to a lot of problems. Do you for instance get the courier to bring the QR code for you to scan so you are covered if they pay through managed payments ?

Yes, it is time-consuming. But it has increased my sales and I want these bulky furniture items gone asap. I don't get the QR code. Buyers who can't do Shiply, can't find a QR code either! Shiply couriers do ask as it is a seller booking, who will pay them. They are reassured by cash on delivery. Some Shiply couriers have given me a receipt. Others have suggested I photograph my item in the van complete with the van number plate and told me lots of ebay sellers do this. I add the Shiply reference number as a "note" in the ebay "manage all orders" page.

BTW, I got PayPal payment from the buyer's OH, as promised.

I've just noticed that it is possible to enter the Shiply ref. no. under "tracking", so I have done that as well. Hope this is useful to anyone reading.
