Grants for Insulation

Hi, in a couple of recent podcasts Martin has mentioned that the government may be introducing more help with the cost of home insulation, as we are about to give the go ahead for the installation of £6ks worth of loft insulation, I thought I would double check if there is any news on any upcoming help? We do not qualify for the grants currently available, we applied through Octopus Energy. We are not on any benefits.
Many thanks for any advice or guidance.

I'm not an expert but £6,000 for loft insulation, are you sure?

Sounds like too much money to me.

    How big is the loft?

£6K buys an awful lot of insulation - It is an easy task for most fit & able bodied people to install. No special skills or tools required.

Eco+ scheme - Due to be launched this summer now I believe. As long as you are in council tax band A-D and with an EPC rating of D and below.

Try doing it for a traditional build house. The Home Energy Scotland surveyor said there are materials that theoretically could be installed in place, but there are no contractors who will do the work.

@Qyburn What would be considered as a "traditional build house"? Surely that would be most properties in the UK.

Stone walls, lath and plaster internal walls, attic bedrooms with dormer windows, slate roof.
The frustrating thing was that the Home Energy Scotland girl we spoke to was insistent that they could help with this sort of property, but the actual survey basically consisted of ruling out each option as impossible or not remotely cost effective.

And if it is anything like previous schemes, the contractors will be adding their "snout in trough" surcharge, so inflating the costs. No doubt you will also need to pay for an "assessment", so an additional expense to account for.
