House insurance quote

House insurance time again and been with Esure for many years, never made a claim and its gone up a bit this year to £242 for a detached 4 bed with the usual stuff in, Laptops, TV etc.
I thought this was reasonable but haven't actually checked for many years so did a comparethemarket and got a quote from Privilege for £148 and even a quote from Esure for £183 so £59 cheaper than the renewal they are quoting me, is this normal and how much is reasonable for a modern 4 bed detached?

UK average home insurance is £156 for £230,000 of Buildings and £30,000 of Contents

It really depends on what you are guying though... are you covering accidental damage? Laptop, mobiles, jewelry, handbags etc outside of the home? Have declared any items over the single item limit? Is it a high single item limit? All of these will add cost. Living in a major city is more likely to be more than a small town etc.

Its really about what cover you need... the aggregator has shown you the prices available (whats available for someone else is broadly irrelevant) and so its up to you to decide on which gives the best balance of price and coverage.
