@dunstonh : Please can I run a long extension cable from Yorkshire to your house and take advantage of your EDF Eastern Region off peak rate? I'll happily pay you the cost of the electricity and a small premium to make it worth your while  :)

Edit: I think you would be in the Eastern region. You should be aware of the fact that EDF offer very competitive night rates (but of course you need the usage to make it worthwhile).
8p off peak this quarter.  Lovely Jubbly.   However, my off-peak use is around 70%.

That's even cheaper than my 2 year fix that ends on Sunday

Does anyone know if/where I can still get a mechanical switch to replace the radio control after the longwave signal is discontinued?  I do NOT want a smart meter.  I understand some systems used a mechanical time-switch.

If your meter is old enough to still be using RTS, it's probably old enough that they can just replace it with a smart meter anyway, whether you want one or not.

This may be a slightly older thread (only last year!) but it still has a lot of useful information/advise.

@JRH990 Apart from the fact such time-switches have to be suitably rated for the off-peak load they are switching (80/100A), they also switch the meter registers.
The one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that you CANNOT just change the RTS for a Mechanical Timeswitch. They're the "property" of your electricity supplier who will undoubtedly refuse to do/allow it.
Why don't you want a Smart Meter? (There's a lot of misleading information about).
