Help With My Credit Score - Declines

in Credit cards
Hello everyone!!
Wonder if you can help. Im looking for a good balance transfer card as my previous deal ends next month. Applied for a one today but got declined.
I checked my credit score and its coming up with a score of 436 with Equifax which it classes as good. The fact I'm not classed as being in the electoral role is scoring me down.
My question is, what companies are good to apply to and who has a good deal at the mo. Also is there a quick fix to this electoral role problem?
Thanks for your time!!!

Hi there,
I have a similar Equifax rating, which it classes as poor on mine, so surprised you appear as "good"
Anyway, don't know about BT, but been looking recently at Electoral Roll.
For my local council (York) they have a rolling registration which means you can fill in a form, send it to them before a cut-off and be uploaded to the electoral register the next month. this occurs every month, details here: http://www.york.gov.uk/elections/register.html
As I say, this is for my area, so I assume each council has it's own method. Try googling "electoral roll, [name of town/local council]"
Sorry I can't advise on Balance Transfer, but hope that helps a little.
Good luck

Is it?
On my screen it shows
299 or less is Poor
300-349 Needs Improvement
350-399 is Fair
400-474 is Good
475+ is Excellent
Have I got that wrong? Is there more than one system?0 -
mine was classed as poor last time I checked at that was a 400 and something, it will be going to NEVER EVER let this person have credit soon!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

Or just go to the official website to get details of how to register in your area

999, 765, 123, 321, 876 credit scores !!! Would you all fancy one of these scores ?
They mean just as much as the scores you've paid for/been given and that is absolutely nothing !! There is no such thing as a National credit score and the figures given by CRA's amount to nothing except a marketing ploy to relieve you of your cash.
Every lender has it's own Unique criteria made up from a multitude of information for accepting/rejecting applicants. A good overall rating and I'm not talking about numbers here does not guarantee any form of credit just as a poor rating doesn't mean you won't get credit. There are far too many anomylies to take into account.
Not being on The Electoral Role will be a highly significant factor in being refused credit as it show instability just as someone who moves regularly does. It is one of the first things checked by creditors along with 'available' credit and outstanding debt. Credit card companies will aslo cherry pick certain profiles and if yours doesn't fit it's requirements you won't get credit regardless, however in 6 months time you might.
I'd advise anyone who's unsure of how credit ratings work to read this :-
