Self-employment as a second job

Hello,
I'm a single mum, working full time. I earn £1700 and I get top up from Universal Credits. I have the opportunity to do a second job as a self employee earning about £1000 a month. I just don't know how this will affect my entitlement if I was to sign as a self-employee (second job) and keep my full time job. All information I seem to find online and in the Gov site is about being self employed as a first job. Anyone in this situation would be great to hear.
Thank you

When you report a change in your online account under work and earnings, there is an option to declare that you are both employed and self-employed.You will then have a Gateway appointment where a self-employment work coach will explain how to declare your income and expenses from self-employment each month. You will NOT be classified as gainfully self-employed and so the Minimum Income Floor (MIF) will not apply to you - so you can ignore that in any information you read online. The reason you will not be considered gainfully self employed is because your self employment is not your main employment as long as you have £1700/month employed income.Just report the change once your self-employment starts, and should all be smooth sailing from there. Your UC payments will vary month by month depending upon your total earnings in the month (from both employment and self-employment), just as they do now.Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter3
