Just had an email from BG offering a refund of 50% for all electric used between 11am and 4pm on Sunday (up to 60kWh).  Interesting one.

"Thanks again for taking part in PeakSave Winter. You truly made a difference and helped everyone get the electricity they needed.

We said there was more to come, so we’d now like to invite you to join a PeakSave Sunday event on 30th April from 11am to 4pm.

For those five hours, your electricity will be half price. We’ll keep track of how much you use, and credit your account back with half of what you spend.^

^The PeakSave Sunday Event (the "Trial") is a trial that is subject to eligibility criteria and terms and conditions, which can be found in full here.

The Trial will run on 30th April 2023 only and offer half-price electricity, between 11am and 4pm, capped at 60 kWh. Any electricity you use above 60 kWh will be charged at your normal unit rate. A large home would typically use around 12 kWh of electricity a day. The 60 kWh cap for the five-hour slot is to make sure that PeakSave Sunday is used fairly. You will still pay your daily standing charge."

Unlike the scheme that ran over the winter, you can't benefit from this by shifting your consumption to the period before the event. You can only benefit by shifting something you were actually going to do anyway to the period of the event and in that sense it seems to be a good way of closing the loophole that allowed you to make money by putting a fan heater on in your back garden if that's what you were inclined to do. The downside is that it's far less attractive - you're only going to make 15p or so for every kWh you shift, not £3 as for the last scheme.

Write them a letter thanking them and send it second class post , then you only need to worry about the 6p left.

I have applied numerous times but to not avail. However someone suggested to try setting the Smart Meter to take readings every 30 mins and that would generate a confirmation email. So this morning contacted their online chat and asked them to set the reads for 30 mins. We shall see what happens.

One other thing because I am always a lot in credit they may think I do not need this offer. However time will tell!
  • Hi,
oh gosh, at last I'm in Peak Save Sunday, can't wait.
Thanks for registering your interest in PeakSave.

We said that we’d keep you up to date with the latest on PeakSave. Well, we’ve got some exciting news…get ready to take advantage of half-price electricity in our PeakSave Summer Sundays.

From now until 24th September, we’ll keep track of the electricity you use from 11am to 4pm every Sunday, and credit your account back with half of what you spend.^

And better yet, you don’t need to do anything to benefit from half-price electricity. We’ll automatically include you in every PeakSave Summer Sunday event for the rest of the summer. So taking part has never been simpler.

So one Sunday of summer savings.

Keep the faith, folks - I think I read somewhere that one lucky customer is on track to make enough money to buy a first class postage stamp soon. Not a trivial amount nowadays

You either see separate credits on your bill as Adjustments before VAT (see 1st photo) - note the dates don't relate to the Sunday the saving was made by the way

or on the App under Billings and Payments you should see the Peak Save Credits shown as + entries (2nd photo)
