Car insurance cancellation

Hi, I set up a youdrive car insurance with Hastings Direct all to get it cancelled for not setting up the app. Every time I tried to set up the app the app would crash. I phoned hastings direct saying this and they said there’s nothing that they can do as it’s been cancelled. All my new insurance quotes have now gone up by £200. I have sent a complaint to hastings direct, what further actions can I take to lower my insurance costs? Thanks

Get clarification from Hasting on how they are reporting it... a cancellation by them that needs to be declared for failing to follow policy terms or a non-fault cancellation, effectively an assumed cancellation by you, which doesnt have to be declared.2

Hi, prior to my last comment. Hastings are still not getting back to me and there isn’t any sign of my premium going down. Whats my next port of call?0

An official complaint to Hastings should get them to get back to you at least.

If they won't budge, try the ombudsman.
You could also contact the "papers" - Guardian money (Anna Tims) etc.
However I am confused - did you cancel the insurance or did they? It seems odd that they would cancel it for you not setting up the app. Honestly this is not "Having your insurance cancelled" within the meaning of the term, unless there is something we are missing.0 -

How do you give helpful advice if you dont understand the circumstances and say you are confused?2 -
Where did the OP say they bought "Black box" insurance? If that is the "youdrive" thing they are referring to, then I wouldn't know that immediately from the context.
Even failing the deadline, if the tech is the issue then the insurer should understand that and offer support.
Perhaps the OP could be clearer and, more importantly, @DullGreyGuy, perhaps you could be more polite. I am trying to offer helpful advice but clearly the OP does not give the context that you have provided. I'm not sure your context changes the position though - if the only reason for cancellation is a tech issue, then that isn't a cancellation of insurance.
ETA: Either way it doesn't matter. If the insurer isn't budging, and the issue is spurious, then the routes I suggested are valid.0 -

OK, understand now (and if you have the time to advise me, it'd be great if you can also advise the OP). I'm still not sure how the OP is to proceed and think my advice is sound. Do you @poppy12345 or @DullGreyGuy have any better advice than that offered? If so I am sure the OP would appreciate it.
