Parking Charge Notice Appeal

Hi everyone,

I’ve received a Parking Charge Notice, not a Penalty Charge Notice
from a company called Private Parking Solutions (London) Ltd who are a Member of the BPA. The reason given is for Parking in a No Parking area.

I parked at a petrol pump at the Esso petrol station where there is a Sainsbury’s Local on the forecourt but the Sainsbury's is not part of the petrol station.  Photographic evidence shows my car parked at the pump as well as a sign saying no parking is allowed while shopping in Sainsbury's. I had not seen the sign when I parked at the pump. I did not use the petrol station. I parked at the pump and I went into Sainsbury’s, for about 5 minutes.

Should I try to appeal - on what grounds? The fine is for £100, reduced to £60 if I pay within 14 days of issue (issue date 12 April). I've just received the letter today 25 April, so the 14 days expires tomorrow 26 April. Please help!

I'm sure someone more helpful will be along soon to advise, but why on earth did you park at a petrol pump, not use it, but go shopping in an unrelated shop?

Surely Sainsbury's have their own parking spaces specifically for the shop?

I imagine your appeal would be based on insufficient signage.

You could try Plan A though and go to Sainsbury's armed with your receipt and ask them if they could get it cancelled? But I imagine that is a long shot! :/
