Can a company degrade a service I paid for in advance without offering a pro-rata refund?

The first review I see on Trustpilot is someone livid that the free email forwarding is being removed just after they've paid for a 10-year renewal of their domain - they've got far greater reason to be upset about the no-pro-rata-refunds policy than I have. And yes, it is interesting how all of the 5-star reviews I saw seemed to follow exactly the template QuidCollector mentioned above.0

and I'm voting with my feet & moving my domains to Fasthosts, who have free catch-all email forwarding.
I've written a blog post for anyone who's interested in doing the same & doesn't know how to go about it, but unfortunately I can't post a link here due to not being on the forum long enough, so just search for 'Avoiding 123 Reg charges for catch-all email forwarding' (should be indexed by Google soon!).
Thankfully, even though I renewed my domain with 123 Reg for 10 years, that 10 years moves with the domain! Phew!

That crossed my mind too.. but if they did, I'd transfer to someone else (it was very straight forward). Here's hooping they do not do the same..
There will always be at least some registrars offering it for free so that they differentiate themselves from the others.0 -
Having thought about it I may well rethink my "email hosting" selections to handle what I might do in the future.I've realised I may well move my domains when their time is up and some companies that host email also act as registrars, might be best to move to one who does both, long term. Looking around I can see significantly cheaper price(s) for the same domain as registrars so it raises the question - what would I be paying 123 FOR once email is dead.0
