Square Edge Skirting – Mitre or Scribe?

Hi all,
Soon, I'll be fitting new skirting board. It's square edge skirting board, with a subtle v-groove. This is the stuff from Wickes:

If you've a profiled skirting board (e.g. torus, ogee, etc), I understand you'd butt one length up to the wall, then scribe the other length of skirting into it.
The issue with square edge skirting is... there's nothing to scribe! So in effect, it becomes a butt joint.
Do I scribe the tiny profile that it does have (effectively, a butt joint), then wood fill the top join line?
Or, do a mitre joint?
Thanks!

Your walls may not be square or vertical, so the cut line may not be square. Personally, I'd just do a straight cut, modified to suit any lean, and then use a belt sander to get the board to butt up neatly. The small groove would be best sorted with a dab of filler.

If you watch from 03:10 onwards, he scribes the tiny little profiles. Easily done I think. But, just wondering if I do fill that top line, if it'll later just crack?!0 -
Ah, didn't notice the little chamfer along the top edge. Yes, you would be better off scribing the join.

Well, mine doesn't actually have that little chamfer, ha! But, it does have the little v-groove a quarter of the way down0

You'll need to continue the v-groove, but it shouldn't be two difficult. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

On a lot of new builds square stock is butted and caulked, I like to cut a small 5mm rebate it gives a sharper finish also it hides any movement at the joint not that mdf moves much.Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'0

Where the two lengths of architrave meet (where two linings meet), tried my luck at mitring the internal corner. Thing it turned out alright!
