kkkklinky said:It states on DWP website that 99% should have it no later than Wednesday but my sister who had 2 on the first date and who is with Monzo still hasn't had hers and no pending payment for Wednesday, so it looks like she's been forgotten, especially since last 1% are new claims and changed bank accounts. Even ESA have confirmed no payment has been sent out and she should have it by May 3rd at the latest since it's an established claim. The CoL payment can be made anytime up to 17th May. That's just over 2 weeks away and she hasn't been forgotten about at all. I have no idea how ESA can tell her that she should have it no later than 3rd May because they won't know anything about when the payment will be made exactly. Payments only started last Tuesday. The previous CoL payments will have no bearing on when you receive this one.5

I assume they are going by this page ? 1.6 million payments processed per day and around 8 million families reportedly to be paid would mean most people would be paid by Wednesday, if you go by that logic. But that doesn't take into account when payments get keyed in, or the fact that it is a bit more than 8 million rather than a dead on figure.
We know from the previous payments last year that the payments did in fact carry on up to the deadline each time.0 -

They also still have all of the normal benefit payments to make as well, which relies on the same payment systems.

It's based on this info I'm assuming from the DWP website. That's were ESA got the information from I just found this today.

If you’re entitled, you will get:
- £301 paid between 25 April 2023 and 17 May 2023 for most people on DWP benefits

(most reports didnt mention the reason).Payments resume today, but of course the question why do they need up until 17th may if they can do 1.6 million a day?DWP said most people who qualify will get their payment before next Monday. So the final week is likely the stragglers they having to process manually as there is some according to DWP statements. Please dont treat this as factual, as its me making educated assumptions based on statements I could find.Tax Credit recipients have a much smaller window and should get it this week.

The DWP have already shown they capable of sending out text messages on batch so perhaps for the next one they can give people an estimated date, depending on which batch they in.This is why people are trying to find more info on when they likely to get it.0

Yeah this is the issue...my sister has severe mental health problems and it causes issues with budgeting along with paranoia...she won't borrow money because she has no idea when she's gonna get this payment to repay. Statements like 99% will get it by the 3rd will cause those that don't more stress and paranoia, I don't understand why they said that to be honest. Also I swear the payment window is longer this time than the last 2 times, which was only 2 weeks (probably because of all the missing payments). Comments like " you'll get it when you get it" are not helpful whatsoever to vulnerable people and especially if you've not eaten for a week and food banks have ran out. Luckily I got my payment but my sister hasn't and is getting seriously paranoid. It also doesn't help when everyone you know has been paid and you still waiting.
Regarding Tax Credits, weren't they supposed to be paid later to prevent overlap, but they likely going to be paid before and during UC ESA, it's totally nonsensical.0 -
It's really not that hard. Just budget for it arriving in your bank on the last day, in this case May 17th, if it arrives before then, great. Making plans to spend money you don't have is extremely silly and risky.
There will always be some who, for whatever reason, aren't in the alleged 99%, if that's you and you've decided to budget based on getting the money earlier you're going to be stuffed, to put it politely.

I had to delay my post because the tax credit thing is a bit weird.
Last year as you said was 2 weeks DWP, then 3rd week HMRC.
This one is 3 weeks DWP, one week HMRC, but the HMRC overlaps DWP second week, so I at first thought they stopping DWP payments second week, doing HMRC, then resuming 3rd week, but instead it looks like they overlapping and DWP added a 3rd week to be on the safe side for late payments.
However adding the 3rd week has a consequence that if your payment goes missing, you have to wait longer before you can report it and get one sent out.
