A cheap but efficient way to block out light in bedroom?

I use the cheap ones from Ikea (i think Dunelm do similar). They just stick direct to the window and easily pop up and down with the plastic holders.

With the curtains too it should work fairly well.
You’d need 2 for yours stuck together - You could even get another 2 depending on how they go and have a pair sat on the room wall so it fully covers up the opening.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:1 -
I use the ikea blackout blinds too. Combined with their blackout curtains it seems to do the job. It was only meant to be a temporary solution but I haven’t got round to sorting anything else out as yet. I found the plastic bits not that great at holding up the blind but I use mini bulldog type clips and they seem a bit stronger.1

So far I have gone with the curtain wire, blackout fabric and a few small holes in the fabric to put wire through and held up with 4 screws above window, this is very good and only mild issue so far is the edges aren't against wall so have a tiny bit of seepage but I think double sided tape should sort thatThis method is good enough that I get just a little light seepage and dog happily sleeps in as long as she goes out once in night for her business in fact after that she doesn't rise until I do and for first time in months I have slept in past 9am.But the Ikea link looks good too, how exactly are they held up?0

I found eye masks a bit uncomfortable so I now use the sleeve of a black jumper.1

I was thinking about cardboard screens, folded vertically to stand on the windowsill.
Back paper or card stuck on the glass would be cheap. Perhaps a mix of both.0 -
It sounds as though you are renting.
If you move again try and find somewhere with a south or north facing bedroom. Much easier to keep the light out.
I have an east facing bedroom and the level of light low on the horizon is intense which makes it really hard to exclude.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
