Hi Everyone, I have recently purchased a compact laminate worktop from House of Worktops, however I have been having difficulty of fitting my hob on my 12.5mm thick worktop. Can someone give me tips with the fitting of the hob. Currently the hob stays slightly above my worktop around 1 cm. (single oven)

You need a certain amount of clearance between the top of the oven and the underside of the hob - The installation instructions for both will tell you how much space is required. You may need to reposition the oven lower down in the housing - Often, these just rest on a shelf with either a filler panel or very shallow drawer underneath. Drop the shelf by ~25mm and fit a new filler panel may well be the only option. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
If I am to drop the shelf by 25mm however, I will not be able to use the drawer which is just below the Oven0

In this case I will also have to cut the side of the drawers0

You may need to drop it by more than 25mm. What do the installation instructions say about clearances?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Sounds like you got the wrong worktop. Not much to suggest. Maybe get a 1cm thick piece of wood to rest the hob on?1

No logical reason why the hob should be directly above the oven. After all with a built-in oven, as opposed to built-under, the hob is never in line with the oven.
Could you swap the oven housing base unit with an adjacent drawer-line or full height base unit?1 -
We always used to have the oven right under the hob, but don't any more. I much prefer it: we can have pan drawers under the hob, and space to put oven trays etc. down near the oven.1
