Travel Insurance - Change Provider

Options
I currently have annual travel insurance with one provider that is due for renewal in May.
I have booked a holiday while under this insurance but it is not until June.
If I change provider in May before I go, am I fully covered for cancellation before and any problems during the holiday
If so, who is responsible provider 1 or provider 2?
Thanks for any help

Depends on the terms of both policies... problem with everyone buying on price is insurers make ever more restrictive terms to shave of a few quid from the price. There are some annual policies that require the insurance to be in place before the holiday is bought for example.

Generally Travel is written on a date of loss basis, like almost all consumer insurance. As such, if you have cover, the claim would be made against the insurance that's in force on the date the event that caused the loss to happen occurred. So if its something that happened on holiday it'd be insurance 2.
  • Thanks for that, I shall have to check the smallprint before deciding to renew or move onto another provider
