So much bashing of energy companies (some justified!) but had an experience with EON this morning that was nothing short of amazing. Went online to try to change my DD over so I paid for what I use (currently £400 in credit but they want to charge £60 pm DD) and this wasn't possible to change online.

I sent an email as it seemed the easiest way and not a time critical issue. 4 minutes later I had a reply and the change had already been made to the account! Quite an unbelievable response and totally unexpected - but well done EON for surpassing expectations!
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

In terms of ease of contact, I'd agree that Eon Next is perhaps the easiest company I have had to deal with over a period (December 2019 - present) that has included Breeze, (SOLR) BG,  Switch to Yorkshire Energy, (SOLR) SP, Switch to Avro, (SOLR) Octopus, New Home (Bulb incumbent), Switch to Eon Next all in the space of just under 3.5 years.

It makes a huge difference knowing what to expect in the 3 processes I've had to deal with during this time
    • Being SOLR'd (3 times),
    • Switching (3 times)
    • Moving Home (once)

My account was £400 in credit last month and I sent them an e-mail, with the recommended wording/information, requesting a £200 refund.
It was answered within an hour, not 4 minutes though, confirming my request and the refund would be credited to my bank account within 10 days. It was.

I have had a number of dealings with E.ON Next by phone and email and I agree that they are very quick and very helpful.

I only went with E.ON as they were the existing supplier when I moved house in 2019. I fully expected to switch soon after moving but their professionalism with the switchover impressed me enough to stay a while.

Since then I have had a 1 year fix, a 2 year fix and changed my DD amount and had a substantial repayment of a credit balance. No fuss, just implementing my requests.

There was a smart meter issue when they migrated from me E.ON to E.on Next, and my meter lost all contact. After 6 months with no signal they replaced it and the engineer spent a couple of hours trying and re-trying to establish the link. Much of this was in an almighty persistent downpour with him running to and from my garage to the meter located outside my house.

My queries with them must have been a bit more out of the norm as although they do respond (eventually) they generally do not show any knowledge of energy usage and cost calculation.

They also advised changes had been made and they were not.

If there wasn't the shiny ship Octopus I would probably stick with them as they regularly supply me with £100-150 a year in goodwill gesture/ombudsman payments.
